Jobs that need grading
Grading shows up in more places than people expect. These are the usual ones.
- A yard that holds puddles for days after a storm
- A lot that was cleared and left lumpy, with ruts and old stump holes
- A pile of delivered dirt that needs to be spread out level
- A dirt road or path on acreage that's washed out or never really existed
- Ground that needs shaping before a driveway goes in
How we grade a site
We start by looking at where the water goes now. Brevard is flat, and a few inches of slope one way or the other decides whether rain runs off to the street or sits against your house.
Low spots get filled. Sometimes there's enough high ground on the property to cut down and spread around. If there isn't, we bring fill in our own dump trucks. The dozer and the compact track loader push it into shape, and our roller compactor packs anything that has to carry weight, like a driveway or a pad. The last pass sets the final slope.

Where the water goes
Good grading sends water away from the house and toward the swale, the ditch or the street. It shouldn't send it onto the neighbor's yard. If your lot drains into a roadside swale, keep that swale open. Filling it in to make the yard flatter can push the water right back at you.
Some flooding is bigger than one yard. If the whole street goes under in a summer storm, regrading your lot won't fix that. Changing the height of a lot near a property line, or bringing a lot up because of the flood zone, is a question for your builder or engineer before it's a job for us.
Decide these first
A short list, and worth settling before the machines show up.
- Which way you want water to run, and where it can go
- Whether the ground needs to carry weight, like a driveway, or just grow grass
- If extra dirt comes off the high spots, whether it stays or goes
- How wide your gate is, since a loader has to fit through it
What customers say
We used Harrack trucking to deliver 8 loads of dirts amd grade it after. This crew is truly amazing and we are super pleased.

I recently used Harrack Trucking for some work on my property. The owners both came out and met me gave me a quote and performed the work that was asked. They came out on the day they said they would. Cleaned up after they were done and then followed up a few days later to insure we were happy. If you need any grading, mulching, land clearing or dirt these are your guys. And not to mention they are local to Palm Bay and have been in business over 30 years.

Questions people ask
Can you level my backyard?
If a compact track loader can get in, usually yes. Measure the gate opening and tell us when you call. If the yard is low, we may need to bring in some fill.
Will grading stop my yard from flooding?
It can help water move off a yard instead of sitting there. It can't fix drainage for a whole street. If you're not sure which problem you have, send photos from after a storm.
Can you grade a dirt road on my land?
Yes. We cut and grade dirt roads and paths on acreage, and we can bring in fill for the soft spots. For a firmer surface, look at asphalt millings.
