Residential lot clearing

Residential lot clearing in Brevard County

You bought a wooded lot to build on, or the empty lot next door finally came up for sale. Either way it needs the brush and trees out, the roots out of where the house goes and the debris gone. Our crew clears it, and our own dump trucks haul it off.

Two kinds of lot jobs

The first is the building lot. There's a house coming, maybe a builder already picked, and the lot has to be cleared so the next step can start. On those, what matters is the house footprint, the driveway and the work area around them.

The second is the lot beside your house. People clear it to get a bigger yard, a place for a garage or a shop, or just so they aren't living next to a thicket. Some want it brought up with fill afterward so it sits level with their yard. We do both kinds.

How a lot clearing job goes

Most lot jobs follow the same steps. The size of the lot and how thick it's grown in decide how long each one takes.

  • You send the address or parcel ID and tell us what's going on the lot.
  • We look at it. On a building lot we'll want the site plan too.
  • Trees you're keeping get marked before a machine moves.
  • Our compact track loader and wheel loader clear the brush and trees.
  • Stumps and roots come out of the area where the house and driveway will sit.
  • We load the debris into our dump trucks and haul it away.
  • If fill or a pad is next, the lot is left ready for it.

Have this ready when you call

None of these are required to get started. Each one makes the quote closer to the real job.

  • Address or parcel ID
  • A boundary survey, if you have one
  • Your builder's site plan showing the house and driveway
  • Photos from the road and from the back of the lot
  • Any trees you want to keep, tied with ribbon

Before the machines show up

Brevard lots are mostly sand, and gopher tortoises like sand. They're protected in Florida. If you've spotted a burrow, say so early, because a survey and an FWC permit may be needed before the lot can be cleared.

Ask about a clearing permit too. Some lots need one from Brevard County, some from the city, and the answer depends on where the lot is and how many trees are coming out. Check with them first. We're happy to talk through what you've been told.

One more. If the plan is to raise the lot with fill, the height it needs to come up to is your builder's or engineer's call. On some Brevard lots the flood zone has a say in it. Get that number from them before you order dirt.

Questions people ask

Can you clear the lot and bring in fill too?

Yes. We clear it, then our own dump trucks bring the fill. If it's a house lot, we can build the pad as well. See fill dirt delivery and building pads.

Do all the trees have to come out?

No. You can keep a live oak or a few pines toward the back of the lot. Mark the ones you want and we'll clear around them. Your builder may also have trees on the plan that are supposed to stay.

How long does it take to clear a lot?

It depends on how big the lot is, how thick it's grown in and whether there's a permit or a tortoise survey to wait on. Once we've seen it we can give you a rough timeline.
