Who calls us for land clearing
Maybe you've got a few acres up toward Mims that went to palmetto and pine years ago. Maybe you bought a parcel outside Cocoa and need a home site and a way in from the road. Or it's family land nobody has walked in a long time, and you'd like to see what's actually back there.
Those are land clearing jobs. If you're clearing a single building lot in a neighborhood, the residential lot clearing page fits better.
How we clear a piece of land
The work runs in about the same order on most properties.
- We walk the land with you first. You show us what stays, where the corners are and where you want the clearing to stop.
- Our wheel loader and compact track loader push out the palmetto, brush and small trees. The dozer handles the heavier stuff.
- The material gets piled, then either mulched on site or loaded into our dump trucks and hauled away.
- If you need a way in, we cut and grade a dirt road or path to wherever the house, barn or gate is going.
- We finish with a rough grade over the cleared ground so it isn't left in ruts and piles.

Decide these before we start
Most of these are about what you want left behind. Settle them on the walk-through.
- Which areas get cleared and which stay wooded
- Trees you want kept. Tie ribbon on them. Big live oaks are usually worth saving.
- Mulch left on the ground, or everything hauled off to bare sand
- Whether you need a road, a path or a turnaround cut in
- Where loaded trucks can get in, including gate width and any culvert at the road
A few Brevard things to check
Gopher tortoises dig in the same dry, sandy ground that saw palmetto loves, and they're a protected species in Florida. If there are burrows on the land, a survey and an FWC permit may be needed before any clearing near them. Tell us if you've seen burrows when you call.
Permits are the other question. Whether you need a clearing permit from Brevard County or from your city depends on where the land is and what's coming out. Check with them before work starts. If you're not sure where to begin, call us and we'll talk it through.
Most of the ground here is sand, and our machines can work it most of the year. Low spots are different. After a run of summer storms some of them stay soft for days, so a big clearing job can lose a day to weather.
Getting a quote
Call (321) 638-4636 or request a quote with the address or parcel ID and a rough idea of what you want cleared. Photos help. We'll usually want to see the land, or photos of it, before we give you a number. We're a family owned company and have been since 1988, working out of Cocoa.
What customers say
Harrack Trucking and Land Clearing exceeded my expectations in every way. Patrick, the owner, is a true professional who takes genuine pride in his locally-owned business. His company is built on good old-fashioned values and work ethic. His team tackled our complex clearing project with incredible skill, finishing ahead of schedule while being careful and precise. They left our property spotless, and their pricing was completely fair. It's refreshing to work with a local business that treats you like a neighbor rather than just another client. Would absolutely recommend their services to anyone needing quality land clearing or trucking work done. A+ service from a great local company!

I recently used Harrack Trucking for some work on my property. The owners both came out and met me gave me a quote and performed the work that was asked. They came out on the day they said they would. Cleaned up after they were done and then followed up a few days later to insure we were happy. If you need any grading, mulching, land clearing or dirt these are your guys. And not to mention they are local to Palm Bay and have been in business over 30 years.

Questions people ask
Can you leave the big oaks?
Yes. Mark the ones you want kept and we work around them. Oak roots spread well past the branches, so the closer a machine runs to the trunk, the more risk to the tree. We'll talk about how much room to leave.
What happens to all the brush and trees?
One of two things. We mulch it on site, or we load it into our dump trucks and haul the debris away. Some jobs are a mix of both. You pick.
Do I need a permit to clear my land?
It depends on the property and where it sits. Brevard County and the cities each have their own rules, so check with the one your land falls under. If there are gopher tortoise burrows, a survey or an FWC permit may also be needed.
Can you clear only part of the property?
Sure. If you only want a home site, a driveway and a yard opened up, with the rest left wooded, tell us where the line goes and we'll talk it through.
